Beginning Stained
Glass Class
Here
is a chance for you to learn a centuries old skill that encompasses time and
beauty. In this stained glass class, you will learn the copper foil technique by
creating two projects in the four week course. Your first project will be a
simple suncatcher heart and the second is a 10”x12” beveled panel featuring a
sandblasted design and your choice of colors. A portion of the first week of
class will be spent trying different styles of glass cutters to fit your comfort
level. If you have your own glass cutter, please bring it with you, but if you
do not, this tool can be purchased during the first week of class.
Additional fees for the class are a $10 tool rental, if you do not have your
own tools; a $15 material fee for foil, solder, and channel; and approximately
$18-$35 for bevels and glass for the second project.
Class Fee: $60 Limit 6 students.
All classes occur on Thursdays.

Make Anything Intermediate Stained Glass Class
Do you still feel that you need a little more instruction and guidance or
just want to try something new? Learn the skills you want to know and make the
project of your choice. Stepping stones, lamps, boxes, and lead came panels are
all suggestions for projects. Undecided students can look at finished projects
on display for ideas. This class is an excellent time to create original designs
or resize existing book designs. (Some additional charges may be included for
this service.)
The skill level for this class is anything past rank beginner. Use as many
weeks as needed to finish your project or gain the information to complete it.
Bring your own tools (except the grinder) or purchase them during class.
Storage of larger projects may be possible depending on size and available
space. (The following week must be paid for at dismissal of class to store
projects.)
Class Fee: $15 per class session

Fusing Table Time
Join in the fusing fun! Let your creative juices flow and spend time with
other fusers. Get out of that fusing rut and create!
This is an opportunity for you to bring any questions or ideas on fusing
projects. We can find ways to enhance your fusing project or inspire a project .
You may also want to spend this time setting up a 21” kiln shelf for VGW to fire
or use our tabletop kilns for a small project. (Additional fees do apply. Please
consult us before class if you wish to use a tabletop kiln. Time can be a
issue.)
Bring your tools, project materials, and a desire to create.
Class fee: $15
Saturday, February 13 ~ 11 AM—2 PM
Fused Glass Class
Are you tired of time-consuming foiling and soldering? Want to make
contemporary glass designs?
This
class will include instruction on firing glass and the science of fusing.
Students will construct small glass items such as glass pins, earrings, or
pendants using a tabletop kiln. These projects will be fired during class.
After lunch, make a small 8-inch circular or square fused glass plate
entirely of your own design. (Ideas are available.) Students will set up the
project that will be fused and slumped by the instructor to be picked up at a
later date.
Beginning glass-cutting skills required, and materials will be furnished. (Dichroic
glass not included. If you wish to bring your own glass, 90 COE will be used.)
Please bring your glass cutter and breaking pliers.
Class fee: $75 (includes all materials) Limit 8 students
Saturday February 6 ~10 AM – 4 PM or Saturday April 10 10 AM – 4 PM Feel free to bring lunch and drinks.
If you have never cut glass before, please inform us that we might enroll you
in the first class session of Beginning Stained Glass class to learn this skill.
Glass Beadmaking Class
Learn
how to make your own beads to incorporate in your stringing over an open flame.
Information, safety, and basic beadmaking skills are taught in this HOT glass
class. There will be enough time to make approximately 15-20 beads.
The torch and miscellaneous equipment may be rented for use in class for an
$8 fee. Students will purchase gas and glass used in class, approximately $15 -
$30.
If you choose to join us for the last hour of class, for an additional $8,
materials and instruction will be furnished to create a wire wrapped pendant
using three of your beads created in class. (See pictured example.)

Intermediate Fusing
So now that you know how to melt glass together, why aren’t your projects
turning out as you expected? In this class, we will answer those questions in
addition to learning some new fusing techniques.
We will go over firing schedules for different types of projects. You will
learn about types of paints that can be used for certain types of projects and
other glass materials that are available for use in the kiln. We will answer any
questions about molds that can be used in your kiln. You will get to choose from
a list of projects to make, including: fused glass wine glasses, a fused relief
tile, manipulated tiles, painting with glass, and more...
This
class is directed toward fusers with a kiln and people who have taken beginning
fusing, but just want to learn more. Bring your glass cutters and pliers and any
past project that you have questions about.
Class fee: $95 (includes all materials) Limit 8 students

Saturday April 17 ~ 10 AM — 4 PM Feel free to bring lunch and drinks
Two Days of HOT glass!
Like you have never seen before
This class will test the limits of your imagination and creativity. You will
create three dimensional objects both in the large kilns and on the small
tabletop ones. At times, you may even move molten glass in a hot kiln. You will
learn how to form your own molds, including a face mask, with different mold
materials. We will answer any questions that you may have on firing schedules
for any amount of different projects. Projects created in this class range from
the funky to the functional. This will be an absolute blast for two days! (You
can trust us on that.)
A beginning fusing class or knowledge on the basics of fusing is required for
this class. Only six students will be admitted as space is limited to our four
large kilns. The class will
run on two consecutive Saturdays. The cost includes all materials including
glass, clay, fiber blankets, resist, mold products and numerous other materials
for use in class.
You will leave with vast knowledge of fusing and slumping for you to use on
your own at home, and numerous projects, large and small, to show off to your
family and friends.
Bring lunch, a notebook, and some excitement to unlock your fusing potential.

Special Spring Project Classes
Fused Glass Trivet
Using basic fusing skills, create a 6”x6” clear glass trivet with colored
dimensional relief. The design will be created by yourself and glass frits will
color the design.
Please bring an exacto craft knife if you have one and an awesome idea. If
you need help, there are always ideas in pattern books at VGW. Projects will be
picked up at a later date.
Class fee: $40
Saturday, January 30 ~ 11 AM—1 PM
Painted Wine Bottle Cheese Tray
Bring
your own clean and dry wine bottle from home and turn it into an original,
functional work of art!
In this class, you will use glass paints and enamels to create your own
original cheese platter. Scrapbooking stencils or any other type of stencil are
great for creating designs. Bring them. If you have any, they may provide
inspiration.
Projects will be fused and slumped by the instructor to be picked up at a
later date.
Class fee: $35
Saturday, March 20 ~ 1 PM—3 PM
Do not forget to bring your completely dry wine
bottle with no label.
“Forever Picture” Picture Frame
Bring
a 3x5 picture/photograph to be scanned into the computer. The image will be
printed on special photo paper that can withstand high temperatures, and the
black ink will mature to a sepia tone photo. You will fuse colored glass,
paints, and pieces to frame the picture to remember forever.
If you have a glass cutter and breakers, please bring them with you. Projects
will be fused by the instructor and picked up at a later date.

Saturday, March 20 ~ 11 AM—1 PM
Original Fused Glass Wine Glasses
Create your own original wine glass. Using flat glass fusing you will create
the stem of the wine glass. Ideas are limitless and so are the color
combinations for your own stemware.
If you have a glass cutter and breakers, please bring them with you. One hour
of assembly will be needed at a later date.
Class fee: $50

Mosaic Glass Vases
Give mom or your special someone a fun gift made by yourself!
Create a mosaic 3-dimensional object with your own special designs. You will
create a 2” square by 8” tall vase using scrap glass from previous projects.
This project may be used as a flower vase or filled with a candle to create an
easy stained glass candle shelter.
If you have a glass cutter and breakers, please bring them with you. These
easy projects will be constructed and glued the first Saturday and grouted on
the second Saturday. Special accommodations can be made for younger artists.
Class fee: $50
Saturday, February 27 ~ 1 PM—3 PM & March 6 ~ 11 AM—12:30 PM
Stained Glass Design with Glass Eye Software
Thinking about designing your own stained glass windows? Do you have Glass
Eye software? If not, are you interested in seeing the program in action? This
is your chance. With Glass Eye software, you can create precise designs that are
easier to view and edit than any pencil and paper drawing. They can be printed
full size on a single sheet of paper!... No taping together 8.5 x 11 paper.
This class will allow you to see Glass Eye in action by an experienced user.
We will move you through the learning curve at what ever level you are at.
If you already own Glass Eye, bring it to class on your notebook computer. We
will work on your specific project in the class. Thinking about purchasing Glass
Eye and have a notebook computer, then bring your computer and try Glass Eye
before you buy. Hey, you could even bring your desktop computer. We do have one
desktop computer that can be shared by those interested in learning the program
hands on.
Class fee: $45
